![]() I have found so far it's been best to convert them to png. Sometimes the models are using png or often DDS textures. EDIT June 2022 The script also now merges all the objects in one file making it easier on your system. I found that for some reason the normals are very often not correct so added a bit in the script to flip the normals so they are fine for FG. This will then convert all the xplane obj files to ac files. # adjust this to match the import smd operatorīpy.11import(filepath=os.path.join(root, name))īpy.context.view_ = īpy.ops.export_scene.export_ac3d(filepath=os.path.join(root, name+'.ac')) This is used to import the xplane objectsįor root, dirs, files in os.walk('/home/dom/Downloads/EGBJ'):īpy._all(action='SELECT') If anyone want to batch convert the models using blender 2.8 (the plugins should work for 2,9) The guide is for placing XP models from a scenery in to FG it does not include generating new runways, taxiways etc. The model conversion part though should work for all OS's. ![]() I am using Linux, I do not know how to so some of the actions in windows or mac os. im reckoning that since its models import into blender very easily, i can then send mesh from blender to 3ds max for editing and refinement and finally, into fsx! I havent yet checked whether 3dsmax imports the planemaker format directly, or whether there is a plugin. My main interest in Xplane is the planemaker modelling software that comes with it. obviously, the textures issue would need addressing through photoshop or gimp before exporting i'd imagine. That would be my pathway for moving models between the two simulators. dds plugins for both photoshop ("Nvidia Texture Tools") and gimp(found in the "gimp plugin registry" ) allowing them to edit textures directly from the fsx directory files without the need to use DXTBmp. fortunately, it is also very easy to go between blender and 3dsmax.Īnd we already know that there are. Im only new to modelling but i have found that it is very easy to go from blender to xplane.and likewise it is easy to go from 3dsmax to fsx.
